The Micromax Canvas Juice A77 is not just your average dual-SIM android smartphone with a 5-inch display, what sets it apart is its humongous 3000 mAh battery and 1GB RAM. Rest of the specs are pretty much same as other phones in the segment, at 1.3GHz dual-core processor running Android 4.2.2, 5-inch FWVGA display, 5MP AF primary camera accompanied by a secondary VGA front-facing camera. The Canvas Juice is priced quite competitively as well at Rs. 7999. So should you keep the Canvas Fun series at bay and get the new Micromax Canvas Juice A77? Well that will take some time to answer, till then here's the unboxing of the Canvas Juice A77.
You get the usual list of accessories with the Canvas Juice A77 as well, but all in white. So there's the following accessories within the box:
You also get warranty statements as well as user guides inside the box.
On the left of the device you have the volume rocker also white in color, which seems sturdy and on the same place on the right side you have the power/lock button. There's a silver trim that runs on the sides, which is glossy and attracts fingerprints. The front of the device is dominated by the 5-inch FWVGA display. Above the display you have the earpiece, proximity and light sensors as well as the VGA front-facing camera. Just below the display are three capacitive buttons for Menu, Home and Back which do light up. But the lighting of the buttons is a bit harsh and leaks through. At the top of the device you have the micro USB data syncing/charging port as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Moving over to the back of the Micromax Canvas Juice you have a 5MP AF camera, with LED Flash. The back has a pattern on the inside which makes it look better but is glossy and is truly a fingerprint magnet, but being white in color they are disguised quite easily. The backcover is really sturdy, and the same goes for the entire build of the device, it really exudes confidence in the build quality. There's a Micromax logo just below the camera and LED flash. Near the bottom, you have the loud speaker with a silver grill just like the earpiece.
Micromax is trying to differentiate the Canvas Juice from its predecessors with its large 3000 mAh battery and plentiful 1GB RAM. The Canvas Juice A77 certainly has good build quality but seems bigger and heavier than other 5-inch smartphones out there. The display on the Canvas Juice A77 looks good, color temperatures are a bit off and there's a slight bias towards cooler tones.
But that's not what we are looking for here, its all about the 3000mAh battery which Micromax claims will give 10 hours of talktime to the Canvas Juice. With a good build, good display,1 GB RAM and that battery for Rs. 7999, Micromax may have just cracked the code towards getting you to buy a smartphones. Could this be the smartphone that wouldn't need to be charged for days and still stay alive if you forget to do so? Are there any other glaring issues with the Canvas Juice A77 which should make you look elsewhere? We'll answer all these questions in our Review, till then have a look at the Unboxing and ask us anything you want about the phone here or on YouTube.
